Wind Wave

In 2011 I collaborated with artist, Doug Hollis in developing a design proposal for a public artwork at the Penn State Children's Hospital in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Inspired by the collective consciousness and flight patterns of starlings, our vision involved a wind-activated, kinetic canopy structure comprised of 700 individual units performing harmonious movements together. The moving patterns above created soft, animated shadows on the ground, reminiscent of the shifting light reflected off the surface of water.

Our proposal was a finalist in the competition.
