Marlin
This project proposal was a collaboration with artist, Doug Hollis. In 2010, we were finalists for a public art commission with the Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places program. The site for the project was at the entry to the new Miami Marlins Ballpark. We envisioned and presented the concept of an environmental sculpture; an abstracted fluid reference to the marlin fish. We would utilize a relatively new technology - Nanosolar Cells, photovoltaic thin-film semiconductor solar cells. The cells would cover the sculptural form and generate enough energy to provide illumination at night, as well as power the infrastructure needed for an accompanying pool and small water jets along the underside of the tail fin.
The images displayed here are some of the renderings I developed for the proposal.
